SEVEN new citizens took the oath at Upper Hunter Shire Council's monthly meeting on Monday night.
They included Fergal Connolly (Ireland), Sinead Brady (Northern Ireland), Susan Keane (Ireland), Quei Kheng Lee (Malaysia), Melissa Nevin (England), Mark Nevin (United Kingdom), and Shihui Huang (China).
Ms Brady, a teacher at St Joseph’s High School in Aberdeen, said she was honoured to become an Australian citizen.
“I moved to Sydney four and a half years ago and then eventually made my way to the Hunter,” she said.
“I was very welcomed here by the local community and all my friends are awesome; I feel privileged to be called an Australian.”
