FOR a smaller organisation, Scone Athletics Club has produced some mighty results this year.
President Dave MacPherson represented the club at the Central Coast half marathon on Sunday, while Nicky Western was the 10th female overall in the Brisbane marathon in August.
Junior sprinters have also raced at the NSW All Schools Athletics Championships, with Tyla Brown placing 10th in the state in the 100 and 200 metres.
Western said would still be plenty in store over the next few months.
“The club has been invited to the NSW Country Championships in Dubbo next January, where we hope to be able to send a strong team of junior and senior athletes,” she said.
“At our last club night of 2016, we will be holding family relays so we may unearth some new talent to represent the club in the master’s categories.
“We have approximately 60 members this year and it’s a very family-friendly club.
“Most parents get in and help each week and relive their athletic achievements while timing their children.”
As well as club nights over summer, there will also be cross country, sprints and field events leading up to the school athletics carnivals.
The club has an advanced level two coach in sprints, relays, hurdles, and middle distance running. Anyone interested in these events should contact Nicky Western on 0414806074.
