The members contested an 18-hole stroke event for Noreen Marshall’s Trophy, as well as the District Medal qualifying round.
Marshall finished with a fine round of 67 nett.
This qualified her for the division 2 district play-off and, in a generous gesture, the daily prize was awarded to Jo Brown who had 74 nett.
This also qualified Brown for division 1 in the district play-off to be held in October.
Ball winners on stableford scores were Marshall 42, Brown 35, Kathy Robinson and Annie Woods 33.
On Saturday, June 24, the regular players had a game with Kerry McLennan being the winner of the Scone RSL Group prize with 29 points.
On Thursday, June 29, an 18-hole stableford will be played for Doon MacCallum’s Trophy.
The Scone lady golfers are reminded that the club championships are fast approaching, to be held on July 20, 23 and 27.
In other women’s golf events, the Hunter River District Championships were played on June 19 and 20.
Lyn Banks was runner-up by one shot in the closed section of the individual competition played at Cessnock Golf Club.
Day two was foursomes at Cypress Lakes and on Day three, a match play event where Hunter River representatives took on players from all other districts was introduced.
Dubbed “The Hunter v The Rest of the World”, 14 matches were contested at the Hunter Valley Golf Club.
The Rest of the World team with significantly lower handicaps throughout the squad, proved too strong for the locals, winning eight matches to four, with two matches squared.
Scone players Lyn Banks, Sue Watts and Julie Leckie were part of the inaugural HRDGA team with Leckie winning her match and Banks losing on the 18th hole.
In the new concept, the Hunter team members were pleased to join forces after the recent pennant season opposing each other.
The day was very well received and played in great spirit.
