Last Friday evening the Centre re-opened with 14 young people attending. The young people played pool, basketball, cards and just enjoyed chilling out in a safe environment. The new coordinator, Carly Brown along with Lizzy Hagley ensure the program is enjoyed by all.
Returning to activities on Fridays, is being trialled by the Youth Centre and the young people and parents are being asked their views on this.
Why not come along next Friday 4pm to 8pm when they will be cooking green pancakes for St Patrick’s Day?
This is fun, friendly and relaxed space where everyone is welcome.
Parents are invited to come in, have a look around, meet our youth workers and fill in your child’s membership form. Membership fee for the year is $10 and dinner is offered for $2.
All young people aged between 12 and 17 are very welcome to attend - we would love to see you there.
Bengalla Warbirds Over Scone
Excitement and enthusiasm is growing for the Bengalla Warbirds Over Scone event on 25 March at Scone Regional Airport. This event has generated interest from many places and the proposed program will prove to be a spectacular day’s entertainment.
If you go along you will see vintage working aircraft many of which we will eventually have a permanent or visiting home for at the airport, which should attract many more tourists to the Shire.
We were very pleased on Friday at the announcement by our local and federal MPs that Council is receiving a grant of $171,400 towards seating at White Park and a $342,800 project towards undertaking detailed design for a proposed new aviation attraction in Scone.
The grants came from the Tourism Demand-Driver Infrastructure (TDDI) program, a Commonwealth funded initiative administered by the State Government to support tourism projects that drive demand and increase local tourism expenditure.
The grant for the airport covers the architectural design and detailed construction drawings for a proposed aviation centre at the airport creating three new full-time jobs.
The centre will include space for a cafe, gift shop, function centre and interactive aircraft display, creating new opportunities for the local economy and tourism industry.
In addition any profits from the upcoming Bengalla Warbirds Over Scone after costs of staging the event will also go towards redevelopment of the airport and aviation attraction.
Murrurundi Litree water purification plant
Mayor Bedggood, Cr Collision and I, along with Member for Upper Hunter, Michael Johnsen, attended the official opening of the plant. The designer of the purification plant, along with the engineers, were on hand to explain the operation of the process. The process of purification used is a very simple process, which shows the excellent engineering design.
