Scone ladies bowlers Rebecca McLoughlin, Wendy McKenzie and Jill Rendoth got down to business with Jill in the early lead.
In the end it was down to Jill and Rebecca, however Rebecca gained some momentum and breezed through to take out the title 25-17.
Rebecca said they couldn’t have asked for a more lovely morning for their annual singles championship.
“It was a great game,” she added.
“I think it’s the fourth time I’ve won it.”
The day continued to be full of surprises with two new sponsors each presenting a $300 cheque to the club.
Scone Women’s Bowling Club president Wendy McKenzie accepted the funds from Tristan Wells of Scone Outdoors and Robert Osmond of Osmonds Pumps + Water Solutions and thanked them for their support.
“This will go towards our up-and-coming Autumn Carnival, which is our major two-day tournament in May,” she said.
Robert Osmond, who runs his family-owned business in Scone, said he is a keen bowler himself, and his love for the sport motivated him to support it locally.
Tristan Wells, also a keen bowler, said Scone Outdoors had been a sponsor of Scone Bowling Club for quite some time and was hoping their support for the ladies would be ongoing.
