Rachel Chu, a native New Yorker of modest means, is happy to accompany her longtime boyfriend, Nick, to his best friend's wedding in his hometown of Singapore.
She is surprised to learn that Nick's family is extremely wealthy, and he's considered one of the country's most eligible bachelors.
Thrust into the spotlight, Rachel must now contend with jealous socialites, quirky relatives and something far, far worse -- Nick's disapproving mother.
Crazy Rich Asians was the surprise US comedy hit of the year and has been praised by the critics.
Rotten Tomatoes website rated it 92 per cent and Hollywood Reporter said it was “thoroughly captivating.”
“Breathless fun,” enthused Vanity Fair, while IndieWire described it as “a wildly entertaining package.”
Crazy Rich Asians, rated PG, will screen at 7.30pm Friday November 8, at their pop-up cinema at the corner of Oxford Road and Cooper Street, Scone. Doors open 7pm.
Tickets are $12. There is limited seating, so to be sure of a ticket, purchase in advance from the Scone Films website or at Hunt a Book, Scone.
Tea, coffee and biscuits will be available.
