NEW ERA DAWNS: The White Park Indoor Horse Arena at Scone will drive considerable economic growth and productivity into the local community.

Having already attracted a number of events and new visitors to the region since its completion in late 2018; the White Park Indoor Horse Arena is Upper Hunter’s first and much anticipated all-weather outdoors sports facility located in the horse capital of Australia, Scone, NSW.

FLEXIBLE AND FAST: A feature of the U-Select System is the speed of construction and ability to customise it to individual needs.

Awarded the design and construct tender for the 5400sqm facility, Akura oversaw the first phase of the project; delivering architectural and structural designs, engineering, footings, cladding and over 80 tonnes of structural steel.

Akura (formerly known as Wallandra) has been part of the rural NSW business community for over 40 years and continues to participate in the region’s growth through the design and construction of buildings for agricultural, industrial and commercial applications.

Akura’s Managing Director, Troy Wallace, said the project ties in with the company’s focus on developing infrastructure that contributes to the long-term viability of communities across NSW.

“We value the opportunity to work with Councils such as the Upper Hunter Shire to deliver quality developments aimed to benefit their local areas," he said.

"We understood the importance of what this facility would mean for the Scone community, and one of the contributing factors of being awarded the contract was our ability to build the arena in time for the years’ scheduled equine events."

The White Park Horse Arena showcases Akura’s capability to offer customised engineered structural building packages – fast. The first phase of the project spanned approximately eight weeks from footings through to completion.

“Our expertise in steel and panel construction, along with our focus on streamlined construction processes led to the creation of our new U-Select System offering; providing clients with simple, flexible and tailored building packages that are designed for rapid delivery and construction."

The company’s in-house precast concrete and structural steel manufacturing facilities, expert staff and fleet of machinery and equipment means they have the flexibility to offer short lead times, fast construction, customised designs and architectural features for a completely tailored result.

“The beauty of the U-Select System is that you ultimately select the building package and customise with additional extras and architecturally designed features specific to the requirements of your project," said  Mr Wallace, whose next project is the $3.4 million Central West Livestock Exchange (CWLE) at Forbes.
