Solicitor Bernadette Walsh and receptionist Carmen Smith have joined the team full time and look forward to assisting Kate in serving the legal needs of the local community.
"Recent changes in the practice required we take on a new solicitor and I'm thrilled that Bernadette has agreed to join the team," Kate said. "Bernadette has practised for over a decade in metropolitan and regional Australia.
"She moved to Scone with her husband and two children last year and had been working with me part time before the full-time opportunity presented itself."
Bernadette grew up in Wagga and practised in Orange and Sydney.
"I am excited about immersing myself in the community," Bernadette said.
"I have particular expertise in family law, dispute resolution and mediation."
Carmen brings with her skills and capacity that align ideally to the needs of an expanding country legal practice.
"Carmen has previously worked as a legal secretary and is enjoying working in the legal field again," Kate said. "Her professionalism, knowledge and attention to detail are second to none and she will be a valued member."
Kate is a familiar face in Scone having practiced since 1997 with a local firm before moving into sole practice as Kate Mailer Solicitor in 2012.
She has served the legal needs of successive generations of local families with a particular focus on conveyancing, family law, probate and estates.
"I love the aspect of working in a busy country law practice and I love being able to be part of the community," Kate said.
"Usually people turn to a solicitor due to some major event in life such as the purchase or sale of a property, a separation or a death.
"I relish the opportunity to be involved with people on the legal side of the journey, as does Bernadette, who shares a conciliatory approach to legal matters.
"We understand it may be a personal and emotional time and always encourage clients to endeavour to resolve a matter with the assistance of outside mediation services before seeking the assistance of the court.
"But ultimately I want people to feel comfortable coming in the door knowing that they can discuss their legal issues in a frank and forthright manner with the view to resolving the matter efficiently and in an effective manner, both emotionally and financially."
