STRONG backing within the community has elevated Oscar Swan into the top six of the nation-wide MyLeague Moment of the Year competition.
But, now, the Merriwa Junior Rugby League Football Club under-7 player needs another surge of support to lift him into the final four.
Voting is open from now until Sunday, September 22.
SEPTEMBER 11 STORY:
JOT down the name Oscar Swan in your little black book.
You might be hearing a lot more about the Merriwa Junior Rugby League Football Club under-7 player in the future.
But, for the moment, the young gun is eyeing off a big prize after reaching the top eight in the nation-wide MyLeague Moment of the Year competition - all thanks to a great four-pointer he scored against the Scone Thoroughbreds this season.
After kicking off and recovering a fumble by the opposition, Swan skirts down the sideline to touch down in the corner.
It caps off a terrific year for the Magpie, and avid Cronulla-Sutherland Sharks fan, who's registered 33 tries throughout 2019.
Now, to progress even further in the contest - and win $2000 for his local organisation - he needs the Hunter Valley Group 21 rugby league community to send votes his way.
"We're rapt Oscar's made it this far," mum Amy Swan said.
"Although, I must say, it's been a bit stressful trying to get people to vote for him - however, that's how the competition works.
"He's moved from the top 12 to eight.
"So, we'd like to thank everyone for voting.
"The support's been awesome.
"If he picked up $2000 for the [Merriwa] club, it would be fantastic.
"It's one of the smallest ones in the group."
Swan said her son was savouring every moment in the code.
"This is his third year [playing league]," she explained.
"But, Oscar's mad about the game.
"He watches all the NRL matches - and is always playing footy.
"Plus, he's in an amazing team with incredible coaches [Ben and Jaleesa Wallace].
"Oscar has improved out of sight."
To help the youngster win the best Moment of the Year, download the MyLeague app, sign in with an email address, put in a password as well as your first and last name and date of birth.
Then go down to the bottom of the screen where it has "moments" and then the leaderboard.
Over the next month, the two least-voted for entries - each week - will be eliminated from the competition until the winner is announced.
