The Shellharbour talent took out the inaugural tournament a week ago, Perez defeating Alexandra Bozovic 6-4 6-4 in the final.
The competition adopts a round-robin format, with entrants split into two groups before finals are played on Sunday.
Perez sat out Wednesday's opening day with a bye, while Lisa Mays defeated Bojana Marinkov 6-4 6-1.
Tennis Australia chief executive Craig Tilley said the UTR events play a crucial role in keeping players on the court in these uncertain times.
"With so much of the tennis season still uncertain, our aim through the UTR Pro Tennis Series is to give as many of our athletes the chance to compete and, importantly, also earn prize money, after months of not being able to make their living playing the sport they have devoted their lives to," Tilley said.
