Bendigo rowing champion Hannah Every-Hall haS added an international gold medal to her collection, taking out the lightweight double sculls at the World Rowing Cup in Switzerland.Rowing alongside Victorian Alice McNamara, the pair produced a stunning third 500 metres of the 2000m event to sweep to the lead and win gold for Australia.The Aussie combination won by three-quarters of a boat length over a fast-finishing British crew in a time of 7:07.85. The event was the third and final event of the national team’s World Cup series, with other events being held in Munich, Germany.Every-Hall, who took an eight- year break from the sport because of illness and motherhood, said she was delighted to have success on the international stage.“To describe the feeling of winning the gold medal here is beyond words,” she said.“Just on 12 months ago I was competing at the Australian Masters Regatta. ‘‘Now to be back here and to win an international goal is amazing.”Every-Hall, who took out the Bendigo Advertiser Sports Star of the Year in 2002-03, is again in the running for the award after being the March nomination for the Bendigo Advertiser Sports Star of the Year for 2009-10 which is supported by WIN Television and mecu credit union.The World Cup gold medal puts Every-Hall on track to reach her goal of competing in the 2012 London Olympic Games.Her short-term aim is a strong performance at the 2010 World Rowing Championship selection trials, which will be held at the Sydney International Regatta Centre from August 23-26.The World Rowing Championships will be held in New Zealand in October.
