The 22-year-old athlete has recently returned home from Canada where he competed in the Unicom World Unicycle Championships in Montreal.
And you can’t wipe the smile off his face as he finished up third in the 22 to 23-year-old age division and 10th overall in the world.
Gleeson competed against 1600 other unicycle athletes from across the world in the elite event from July 30 to August 10.
He is no stranger to international competition as Gleeson competed in the European Unicycle Trials Championships in Cuneo, Italy last September placing in the top four in each preliminary round and third in the final.
Gleeson has been learning to ride the unicycle since he was just 10 and said he really enjoyed the different obstacle courses that made up the heats and tie breakers to reach the finals.
“We had an hour and a half to complete 45 obstacles, which I came very close to doing,” he said.
“I was pretty happy with how I went.
“I hadn’t been training much in the lead up, so I went a lot better than I thought I would.”
After breaking his arm on his bicycle since returning, he will now rest up before getting back into training.
