Riders came from Singleton, Mudgee, Murrurundi, Scone, Cassilis and Denman as well as a strong contingent from Merriwa to join in the campdraft action.
Pat Gillis of Bunnan was both instructor and judge over the two days, assisted by experienced campdraft competitor Wal Martin of Merriwa.
There was marked improvement from every horse and rider combination which was reflected in the Sunday’s campdraft results.
“A number of riders completed full courses which is good to see.
“All the children listened well and rode safe,” Mr Gillis said.
Merriwa Pony Club president Clare Martin said the two day school was a great learning experience and confidence building exercise for the younger riders new to the sport.
“It was great to see so many young riders attempt their first ride out the gate or have a go at the cut-out for the first time,” she said.
“For the more experienced riders it was a chance to train their young horses or tune up their older ones.
“Without cattle, there wouldn’t be a campdraft school.
“We would like to say a big thanks to our cattle donors Dr Stevens from ‘Weebimble’, the Edmonds family of ‘Coolie Angus,’ the Patterson family from ‘Flight Springs’ and cartage contractors Michael Nutt and Jamie Daniels,” she said.
