The warm weather or the fact that it was the middle of the school holidays did not discourage anyone from playing or giving it their all.
The Junior ‘Come and Try’ day went off well with quite a few children/families taking advantage of this.
In particular was the Under 9s/Minkey kids trying out their skills on the inflatable hockey field.
Although they were a bit shy to begin with, with the encouragement and help from Kylie, Gary, Wayne and Pete the shyness died away and fun was had by all.
The children were instructed on the importance of warming up, the correct way to hold a stick, how to use the stick and also the dangers of the stick when used incorrectly or in a dangerous manner.
In the Under 12s a lot of enthusiasm was shown and demonstrated on the field.
All the Under 12s have come a long way since last season which was fantastic to see.
We still had a number of Under 12 players who have registered but were absent on the day.
This week coming all Under 12s will be placed into teams, please remember that these teams are subject to change as new and past players are still yet to register within the coming weeks.
Parents will be advised if this will affect the moving of your child to another team.
Our aim is to ensure the strength of all teams is as even as possible to make it an enjoyable competition by all.
In the Under 17s, there was lots of excitement to get out onto the field even before the Under 12s had finished their game.
The skills, talent and passion of these players were greatly shown throughout the game which is always a pleasure to see.
Although some felt the game did not go long enough.
The competitiveness of all these players is only what we hope we will continue to see as they move up in the grades.
Once again, as stated above with regards to the Under 12s, this week will see the Under 17s placed into teams subject to changes in the coming weeks.
The senior games were all closely matched.
The scores in all games showed that although the season is young it is showing to be a close competition all round.
Results were Willow Tree (2) defeated Belmore Hotel Women (1), Legends and Royal Hotel Women had a nil all draw, Keever’s Cougars (1) were defeated by Scone Sporties (2), Old Fella’s (0) were defeated by Royal Hotel Men (3) and Muswellbrook (3) defeated Belmore Hotel Men (1).
Just a reminder to everyone that parking around the grounds is park at your own risk.
Scone Hockey Club is not liable for any damages that may be caused to cars in the event of hockey balls leaving the field.
This Saturday we make our way into round two of the competition.
For those children who are still considering hockey for a sport, you are more than welcome to ‘Come and Try’ again this Saturday from 10am.
