This talent and creativeness will be fleshed out by several high profile authors who will visit Scone in coming weeks for the second annual Scone Literary Long Weekend.
One such literary lover is Sydney based author Ged Gillmore who is thrilled to be visiting to promote his books and take part in the children’s story telling component and a panel discussion during the three day event.
Mr Gillmore is a children’s author and crime writer who loves to escape city life and enjoy the country side, which he is looking forward to doing this October long weekend.
Having nurtured a passion for writing since his childhood days, Mr Gillmore enjoys the best of both worlds working for the Commonwealth Bank and writing on the side in the evenings.
He published his first book ‘Cats on the Run’ in July and is currently working on his first crime novel ‘Headland’, which he hopes to have on the shelves in November, as well as a sequel called ‘Class Act’ due to be released early next year.
Mr Gillmore said he is really looking forward to visiting Scone as he hasn’t spent time here before.
“It will be nice to visit the country and get my name out there.
“When people get to see the human behind the book and hear you speak and your values, it creates more interest,” Mr Gillmore said.
“I am a book lover and to be able to encourage others to read and become book lovers too is very rewarding.
“I love that writing allows me to create a world and it allows the reader to escape normal life into a book,” he said.
“I can make anything happen in a book and I hope other people can get lost in it as well.”
The Scone Literary Long Weekend will be held at the Scone Arts and Crafts Centre from Saturday, October 3 through to Monday, October 5 with many exciting events during the weekend.
