Murravale operations manager Di van Balen and well-known member of the Murrurundi community, and retirement home resident, Shirley Yates accepted a cheque for $200 from Inner Wheel’s Jane Sullivan and Jenny Walker.
“They were absolutely delighted to receive our small but none the less significant financial gift,” president Dianne Chad said.
“This year, in addition to Murravale, we made donations to the Upper Hunter Homeless Refuge; Friends of Strathearn; the United Hospital Auxillary, Scone; Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service; Scone Legacy; Scone Ambulance Service; Scone Scouts, Scone Girl Guides and all four schools in Scone.
“Inner Wheel is one of the world’s largest women’s organisations whose members support their local communities through a variety of service opportunities.
“We meet on the first Monday of each month at 6.30pm at the Royal Hotel on Kelly Street, Scone, and on the last Monday of the month for morning coffee at 10am at Asser House on Kelly Street.
“We offer friendship to women of all ages and organise social and fundraising events that support the local community, as well as national and international projects to improve women and children’s way of life.”
