HUNTER Valley Cutting Horse Club had a financial goal in mind prior to its October Show.
But an overwhelming response saw that initial target tripled.
Secretary Lynda MacCallum said a combined effort enabled the club to make a generous donation of $4600 to the ‘Where There’s A Will’ foundation on Wednesday.
“We didn’t expect to raise that much at all,” she said.
“We usually try and give back and thought that if we could raise $1000 or even $1500 then, as it stands, that’d pay for one teacher to be trained to help kids with mental health awareness.
“But we exceeded. How we got that much [money] was we added an extra $5 to all the entry fees.
“We also ran a raffle, and we pay our cattle donors for the use of their cattle, which they then donated back to the foundation.
“We also pay for hay to feed our cattle all weekend, and that was all donated back.
“Davis and Sons from Blandford donated a percentage from their transport costs as well.”
