St Joseph's High School Aberdeen HSC students happy with 2016 results

The local pupils, along with 77,000 students across NSW, woke to their Higher School Certificate results.

St Joseph's curriculum coordinator Veronica Rolfe said staff members were ecstatic with this year’s outcome.

“A high number students [achieved] in the top bands across multiple subjects, performing above state average in the high bands,” she said.

The high school’s highest performing students were Mikaela Tilse, Beau Harris, Chris Greentree, Angie Smith, Mitch Turner, Olivia van den Heuvel, Maddi Ritter, Lacey Cornall, Jess Dallah, Milli Martin, Khan Gallagher, Gabbi Madden, and Sohie Morgan.

Mitch Turner, Angie Smith, Maddi Ritter, and Beau Harris returned to the school on Thursday, beaming from ear to ear.

They agreed the teachers went above and beyond in their work to help them reach their academic goals.

As well as their individual efforts, and those of the staff members, they also credited some of their success to being surrounded by other ambitious students.

“I think what helped us as well was that the whole cohort was really competitive,” Beau said.

“We wanted to beat everyone, and also help each other too.”

Looking forward, the four school leavers are keen to continue their study at university, including Maddi, who was delighted to be offered early entry into her commerce and psychology studies at Macquarie University in Sydney.
