HammondCare At Home is one of Australia’s largest providers of community aged care and has started offering services in the Upper Hunter, following Strathearn becoming a subsidiary of HammondCare late last year.
General manager of HammondCare At Home David Martin said up to 15 new staff would be employed initially and this was in response to the growing incidence of dementia in the region and the recent deregulation of community aged care.
There are about 1100 people in the Upper Hunter with dementia, a figure which is expected to almost triple by 2050.
“Since February 28, aged care clients in the community have been able to choose and change their provider and this is bringing more competition to the sector,” Mr Martin said.
“We are responding by making our services more widely available, particularly our expertise in dementia care.”
Mr Martin said HammondCare was excited to be growing its participation in the Scone community and, through Strathearn, pleased to be a sponsor of the Scone Horse Festival.
Special prices at Open Weekend
TO celebrate the Scone Horse Festival, Strathearn Villas is holding an Open Weekend at its Strathearn Villas Retirement Community and visitors can tour the facilities and see how it offers high quality independent living.
“And, as a further celebration, we’ll be offering negotiable prices on villas during the Open Weekend for settlement by August,” Mr Martin said.
The Open Weekend is on Saturday, May 6, from 2pm to 5pm and Sunday, May 7, between 10am and 1pm at 75 Gundy Road.
