And to keep tradition rolling, they are now on the look out for new members.
The 1st Scone Scout Group will be running an Open Day on Sunday August 20 at the Scone Museum on Kingdon Street.
The group is inviting anyone between the ages of 6 to 17 to come along for an hour and a half of action-packed activities, with parents welcome.
Scone Scout Group leader Greg Morris said the day is all about giving children and families a taste of the group and building up the future generation of scouts.
“There will be a whole stack of games, crafts and activities such as catapults,” he said.
“Essentially it is about giving kids the skills to become independent while at the same time learning social skills and how to get along with each other.”
Mr Morris said that while the scouts is aimed at developing physical skills it is also about personal progression and growing mentally.
“Not only do we actively encourage kids to build their physical strength through activities such as hiking and mountain climbing – we also teach them practical skills such as cooking.”
With their 100 year centenary celebrations kicking off on September 9, Scone Scouts has plenty of exciting events on the horizon.
“One of the next activities we have planned is a hike up to Mt Moonbi,” Mr Morris said.
Museum entry is 50 cents for kids and $2 for adults with the Open Day running from 3 – 4:30 pm.
