The National Police Remembrance Day service, at St Alban’s Anglican Church, Muswellbrook, was attended by the mayors of the command’s Local Government Areas, including Upper Hunter Shire mayor Wayne Bedggood.
Upper Hunter MP Michael Johnsen also attend the 2017 service.
“Every year we gather to remember the men and women who dedicated their lives to our community and to the safety of others,” he said.
“Our police officers go to work day in and day out in our communities not knowing what they will confront in the line of duty, or whether they will return home safely at the end of their shift.
“It is important that on this day that we acknowledge those officers who have lost their lives as a result of their policing career. But we must also pay our respects to our local men and women in blue who work tirelessly to keep us safe from harm every day.
“On this National Police Remembrance Day, I stand with the entire police family to honour those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the name of community safety.”
