That’s according to Savour Australia, who recently handed over the team at The Cottage a Bronze gong at their National Awards for Excellence.
Among the top cuts was Prime Restaurant, Sydney, who took home Gold and San Telmo, Melbourne with Silver.
The annual awards, held in Melbourne on Monday night, bring together some of the finest cafes, restaurants and catering businesses in Australia.
The gong comes after The Cottage was named Best Steak Restaurant in Regional NSW in September for the second year running.
They also took home the 2017 Northern NSW Consumer Vote Award – proving it’s not only the judges that are a fan.
Business owner and chef Colin Selwood insists it’s the produce that makes their steak a cut above the rest.
“We use a grass fed product that is British-breeds and are not breed specific or property specific,” he told The Advocate in September.
“So I get a lot of natural grass fed marbling come through in the beef.
“Then it is dry aged on site, ensuring we have complete control over the end product that is served in the restaurant six weeks later.”
“I have a great team and town behind me and these awards acknowledge that,” he said.
