Representatives from the Hunter River Group CWA branches and guest speaker Racheal McGuirk from Helloworld Travel Scone gathered to enjoy themed activities in honour of the country of study, Poland.
A display of Polish artefacts on a tastefully decorated table adorned with traditional embroidery and flowers was the focal point of the room.
Racheal McGuirk gave an entertaining and informative presentation sharing some of her experiences from a trip to Poland 10 years ago.
Guests then enjoyed the tastes of Poland, with the CWA ladies having prepared a beautiful lunch.
Scone CWA’s international officer Lorraine Gardiner said a lot of research went into the day.
“We are serving a hearty Polish chicken casserole, followed by a traditional apple crumble and Polish biscuits,” she said.
“International Day is an annual CWA event.
“We celebrate a different country of study and raise money for international aid.
“At the moment we are helping students from Papua New Guinea and raising money for a program called Water For All in Africa, providing clean water for the less fortunate.
“We are very lucky to have such a great turnout today.”
