The students are out and about, raising funds by selling chocolates. Their efforts combined with the generous contributions from sponsors and Upper Hunter Shire Council, will mean another six young people will be embarking on this challenging sailing adventure from April 15 to 25 next year.
Upper Hunter Shire Council has supported this program with the help of the Upper Hunter community since 1998 and 84 Upper Hunter young people have already taken part.
The lucky draw for berths will be held at a special event for sponsors, previous participants, nominees and their families at Scone Race Club on November 21.
At an information session for the nominees last week, Mayor Wayne Bedggood congratulated them and thanked the sponsors.
“Council’s Young Endeavour Scheme not only gives young people the unique experience of an ocean voyage on a tall ship, it challenges and inspires them, it builds their confidence and determination and it develops leadership skills,” Bedggood said.
“Upper Hunter Shire Council are proud to be part of the Young Endeavour Youth Scheme and we look forward to sailing into our 20th year in 2019.”
