Special awards were presented to students for their outstanding achievements and each student received a merit certificate to celebrate their individual successes throughout the year.
Students once again voted to select a new group of student leaders for 2019.
Lachlan Baker and Hallie Croucher were named 2019 School Captains, while 2018’s School Captains Mackenzie Williams and Matt Byrne gave their final address in the role.
The student who received the top grades for 2018 was Lily Hollis, who was handed a trophy for dux.
On top of recognising academic achievements, various sporting achievements were recognised with PSSA Blues Awards for students who represented the Hunter.
Of particular note was Scone Public School’s success in rugby league, touch football and hockey.
Throughout the year pupils received points for entering sporting events which are tallied to decide who their overall Sportswoman and Sportsman are.
Sportsman for 2018 went to Campbell Munn while Sportswoman was awarded to Eliza Duggan.
The Award for Leadership, presented to a student who has demonstrated leadership within the school, been an excellent role model for other students and who consistently demonstrates the Scone Public School expectations went to 2018 School Captain Mackenzie Williams.
The Don Wallace Citizenship Trophy was presented to Frank Seale for his efforts to participate and contribute positively to the life of the school community.
Awards were also presented for achievements in public speaking, creative arts and music.
Scone Public School principal Deborah Fisher congratulated every student for their fantastic achievements in 2018.
“Whether it’s public speaking, eisteddfods or poetry, activities we are doing to meet our PBLs or the focus on wellbeing thanks to the contribution Where there’s A Will have made, it’s been a wonderful year with lots to celebrate,” she said.
“We look forward to introducing new programs in 2019, including an exciting music and band program aimed at Year 4 students in partnership with the Upper Hunter Conservatorium of Music which will see music mentors come in to pass on their knowledge.”
