A great turnout once again showed up for the annual Belltrees versus Rouchel charity cricket match, raising money for the Where there’s a Will (WTAW) foundation and rural charity Aussie Helpers.
While the community went into bat for our farmers, Belltrees proved they had broken their own drought winning the match for the second year in a row after a seven-year dry spell.
Where there's a Will chair Jane Callinan said the day has been running for around nine years and this is the third year they've supported WTAW.
"It's an amazing community effort, we're very aware of how drought-stricken our local community is so we're grateful to be included and we just think Aussie Helpers is a great combination," she said.
"To have WTAW for mental health and wellbeing and Aussie Farmers for our drought-stricken community is a great combination today."
The charity cricket day made history as the first sporting event to get behind WTAW in 2017 when they raised $34,000 in one day for the foundation to go back into mental health training in the local community.
"It's an amazing effort for two very small communities who could chose a lot of charities to support," Jane Callinan added.
"There's a very strong connection with the drought and mental health and WTAW is all about being equipped before it's an issue.
"This amazing community and what they will raise today will do an amazing ripple effect in our community."
With many outstanding prizes up for auction including an impressive Ellerston Golf Package, final fundraising figures are being tallied.
