Pre-polling is available at the Upper Hunter Shire Council Administration Centre, 135 Liverpool St, Scone and closes at exactly 6pm tonight (Friday, March 22).
Candidates
Eight candidates have nominated for the seat of Upper Hunter which is currently held by the Nationals' Michael Johnsen.
The candidates as they will appear on the ballot paper are:
Calum Blair, Sustainable Australia (NSW)
Lee Watts, Shooters, Fishers and Farmers
Michael Johnsen, The Nationals
Claire Robertson, Animals Justice Party
Tony Lonergan, The Greens
Richard Stretton, Christian Democratic Party (Fred Nile Group)
Mark Ellis, Liberal Democrats
Melanie Dagg, Country Labor
Where to vote
Failing to place your vote without a valid reason will result in a $55 fine.
Voting centres across the Upper Hunter Shire Council will be open from 8am until 6pm on Saturday, March. 23.

How to Vote
When you vote at a polling centre you will be given two ballot papers: one for the Legislative Assembly (lower house) of the NSW Parliament and one for the Legislative Council (upper house).
Voting in the Legislative Assembly (lower house) a voter must:
This is the small form. You only have to vote with the number 1, but if you chose to do so you can continue and number all of the boxes.
In the Legislative Council (upper house) a voter has two options:
This is the long piece of paper. You have the option to vote one or more numbers 'above the line'. Or, you can vote 'below the line', numbering at least 15 boxes or more.
