The small band of volunteers, who operate a charming op-shop in town, are well-known for their generous nature, including some sizeable donations to Upper Hunter NSW Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) brigades this year alone.

In fact, there'd be few organisations in the area that haven't benefitted from their charitable ways.

However, this month, the tables will turn on Aberdeen Treasures.

Instead of giving, they'll be on the receiving end of some kindness with Blairmore House owner Rhonda Fry opening the doors of her Federation-style heritage home at 13 Segenhoe Street again - to raise much-needed funds for the group.

The Country Fair and Bridal Parade, from 11am until 3pm on Sunday, March 29, is expected to feature music by Vegas Groove, various displays, market stalls, food and beverages, as well as a sausage sizzle courtesy of the Aberdeen Lions Club.

"I did a similar thing last year (for the first time), which was quite successful," Ms Fry said.

"And, luckily, we were blessed with such a lovely day - and the tours were extremely popular.

"The funds, in 2019, went towards establishing a community vegetable garden.

"So, I wanted to do something a little different on this occasion, hence the bridal parade.

"I've obtained a lot of wedding dresses, while a few residents have dropped theirs in as well; they're loaning them to me for the event.

"It should be quite a sight.

"But, I'm also keen to give something back to the community.

"That's why all the proceeds [from the day] will go to Aberdeen Treasures."

Ms Fry certainly extolled the virtues of the volunteers, led by Carole Johnston, who've supported the likes of Aberdeen Pre-School, Aberdeen Public School, St Joseph's High School Aberdeen, Aberdeen Men's Shed, Aberdeen Junior Cricket Club, Aberdeen Little Athletics, Aberdeen Campdraft, Aberdeen Skate Group, Upper Hunter Riding for the Disabled, Dimmocks Meats Aberdeen (farmers vouchers) and Where There's a Will over the years.

"They're beautiful ladies, very friendly - and they do an amazing job," she said.

"The women are always helping others, so it's nice to assist them.

"I'm very happy to boost their coffers if I can."

That sentiment was music to Mrs Johnston's ears.

"Rent increases make it hard to raise money quickly," she said.

"We recently handed out $14,000 to local NSW RFS crews, so we need to bank some again.

"This event will make an immense difference.

"It's a wonderful gesture by Rhonda to host it.

"She's truly fantastic for the Aberdeen community.

"Hopefully, everyone will support the Country Fair and Bridal Parade."

To enter the grounds on March 29, there is a $5 entry fee.

There are also guided tours of Blairmore House - built by former Aberdeen mayor Ebenezer Hall in 1900 - which are limited to groups of eight, at 11.30am, noon, 1.30pm, 2pm and 2.30pm.
