Following the construction of the Scone bypass there is surplus land that Transport for NSW hold. Council is able to licence the land for community use, with the option of purchasing it in the future.
Transport for NSW is currently working through the new road reserve gazettal which is expected to take 1 to 2 years. Once this is completed the surplus land can be sold, until then the land can only be licensed.
The land is from Wingen Street and Kingdon Street towards Parsons Gully. Currently there are two fenced areas, with the Scone bypass between them.
Possible uses for the land include:
- a community garden;
- a fenced, dog off-leash park;
- a skate park;
- additional open space.
There is enough space to put up to two of these options on the site. Most would require grant funding to proceed.
Please provide written comment on your preferred community use of the land by Monday 16 November 2020.
