IT was an ideal day for golf at Scone on Saturday May 1 and a great field of 47 players enjoyed the course.

The winner of the Scone RSL Group Monthly Mug was Mick Alsleben playing off a handicap of 7 who had a sensational round of 2 under par 70 for 63 nett! Mick's round included three birdies and he set a new course record from the blue tees. Well done Mick.
The next best nett score was by Brad Hockley who had 71 nett. He won the B Grade prize for his 37 points. The A Grade winner was Steve Morse who had 34 points and the C Grade winner was Trevor Wilson who had 36 points.
With a back pin on both par threes, hitting it close was a challenge for many players. The NTP's were won by Gordon Halliday 4.99 metres on the 4th, Mac Dawson 7.99 metres on the 8th, Charlie Manning 2.31 metres on the 13th and Paul Smart 10.50 metres on the 17th.
The ball winners were: Mick Alsleben 45, Brad Hockley 37, Paul McLoughlin, Trevor Wilson 36, Steve Morse, Tony O'Neill, Dan Malone, Bruce Lambert, David Druce, Stuart Dawson 34, Luke Stevens, Barb Hobbs 33, Grant Macey, Robert Ryan, Charlie Manning 32, Paul Smart, Phil McGuirk and Sid Collison 31 points on a countback from Jeff Harrington, Tony Pringle, Ross Banks and Gordon Halliday.
Likewise on Thursday April 29, the ladies were treated to fine playing conditions. Fifteen players contested an 18 Hole Stableford kindly sponsored by Gillie Bennetto. The winner was Mary Ellen Brennan who had 34 points. 33 points was next best by Gillie Bennetto who re-donated the runner up prize to June Jukes, with Louise Mathews missing out on a countback. Balls went to all these players plus Dordie Bragg 32, Judy Carmody 31 and Catherine Russell 30 points on a countback from Cheryl Clydsdale.
Catherine Russell also won the NTP on the 13th hole.
In the Wednesday Stableford competition on April 28, there were also fifteen players in the competition. The winner was Charlie Wintle who had 34 points. He also won a ball along with
David O'Brien, Jono Keep 33, Paul McLoughlin 32, Matt McKinnon (V) 31, Cameron French (V), Brad Hockley and Kathy McKinnon (V) 30 points on a countback from Glen Tarrant.
Players are reminded that two Hunter River District events are coming soon with the Mixed Ambrose Championship to be played at Singleton on Sunday May 23 and the Sandgreen Championships for men and ladies being played at Merriwa on Sunday May 30.
Next Saturday May 8 an 18 Hole Stableford sponsored by Luck's Meats and Mick Alsleben will be played.
On Thursday May 6, the ladies will play an 18 Hole Stroke / Stableford for the 3rd Monthly Medal sponsored by Melanie's Jewellers and Mitani Café. Also on offer is the "Wine O'Clock" putting prize sponsored by Julie Leckie. It is also round three of the Golf NSW Medal.
The popular Wednesday Open Medley Stableford will be available on May 5.
Junior golf commenced with a come and try clinic on Sunday May 2 with a keen group of budding golfers attending. The next scheduled day will be on Sunday May 23 at 10am.
