The NSW Police Force - Rural Crime Prevention Team have reported on two cases of cattle theft in the Upper Hunter and Mid North Coast regions since the start of the year.

The thefts involve around 65 head including Angus cows and calves from Merriwa and 100 Brangus cross cattle from Bellbrook near Kempsey.
Hunter Valley Police District are investigating the theft of cows and calves from a property on Cream of Tar Tar Road, Merriwa.
The cattle were mustered on the 26 December 2023 and found to be missing on the 15 January 2024. Inquiries by the owners and investigations to date by Rural Crime Investigators have not been able to locate the cattle in the area.
At the time they were last seen some cows had calved and some were still in calf.
The cattle are branded with "RPN" (with an overscore above the "R" - see image) and had a mix of pink, red, orange, and white management tags. The cattle have a "V" ear mark on the tip of their left ear.

Officers from the Rural Crime Prevention Team at the Mid North Police District were called to a property on Fifes Creek Road, Bellbrook after reports 100 head of Brangus cross cattle went missing.
The cattle were mustered on Friday 17 November 2023 and found to be missing on Wednesday 7 February 2024. Inquiries made by the owners of the cattle and investigations to date by Rural Crime Investigators have not been able to locate the cattle in the area.
At the time they were last seen, some cows had calved and some were still in calf.
The cattle are fire branded with KDR and had red coloured management tags with the owners phone number and letters DRR, along with NLIS button tags with PIC NC488865. The cattle have a '7' ear mark on the top of their left ear.
