The annual clinic was hosted by the Aberdeen Junior Rugby League Football Club and held at McKinnon Field.
An impressive 250 children aged from five to 12-years-old took part in the fun day of drills and skills.
They were also fortunate to receive a special visit from Newcastle Knights star Danny Buderus, who spoke to the youngsters about his career as a football player and rugby league in general.
Throughout the day, the children were put through their paces across 12 stations of skills, including tackle bags, tackle technique, passing, kicking, busting through pads, communication skills and modified games.
Each child received a free pack with lots of fun items as a memorabilia from the event.
NRL game development officer Kacey Drummond said the clinic has been running in Aberdeen for three years now and it just keeps growing.
“This year is the biggest we have had with 250 children travelling from Singleton, Muswellbrook, Denman, Merriwa, Greta, Branxton, Aberdeen, Scone, Murrurundi and surrounds.
“It’s going really well here at Aberdeen, and the Aberdeen Junior League Club are great hosts,” she said.
Drummond said they were fortunate to have many NRL staff members and Group 21 junior rugby league volunteers helping to run the event.
“It’s a great day for all children as they don’t have to be a junior league player, it’s just something fun to do in the holidays,” she said.
“For the children that are junior league players it’s an opportunity to refine their skills, and for those who aren’t it gives them a taste of league and might inspire them to join their local club next season.”
