Scone Neighbourhood Resource Centre gearing up for fourth annual Christmas in the Park

IT’S that joyous time of year again when Christmas is just around the corner.

And, this years’ much-loved festive event ‘Christmas in the Park’ is set to go off with a bang –  boasting a brand new location and fireworks.

For the first time this year, the event will be held at White Park with hundreds expected to kick off the silly season in Scone when the gates open on December 2.

Scone Neighbourhood Resource Centre event coordinator Jaala Presland said they have been fortunate to add additional activities each year.

“This year is no exception,” she said.

“Not only do we have a new bigger location at White Park - but at the conclusion of the evening fireworks will light up the sky, thanks to Scone McDonalds.”

All of the old favourites are set to return, with the opportunity to purchase a Christmas gift at one of the market stalls or try your luck at winning a ham on the chocolate wheel.

“Scone is very fortunate to have such great talent in the area with Tori Vines and the Rowland Family Band volunteering their musical talents for the stage,” Mrs Presland said.

“It will be an evening singing a collection of songs and carols that everyone is sure to enjoy.”

And, even the jolly man himself won’t be missing out on the adventure.

“The littlies will be treated with a visit from Santa Claus, unlimited access to rides and face painting by purchasing a wristband at the ticket booth for five dollars,” Mrs Presland said.

“All music and the fireworks are free thanks to the generosity of our sponsors Scone McDonalds, Regional Australia Bank, Upper Hunter Shire Council, Woolworths, MacCallum, Inglis, Australian Pacific Coal, JBS Australia, Hunter Valley Bricks & Pavers, Upper Hunter Men’s Shed and Multicultural NSW.

“A huge shout out must go to the tireless efforts of the SNRC staff, volunteers, Council outdoor staff and essential services, especially the Rural Fire Service for supporting Christmas in the Park.

“Please ensure your pets are safe and secure before coming to join us for a fun filled community Christmas,” Mrs Presland said.

Gates open at 5pm on December 2 with fireworks concluding the event at approximately 9pm.
