Hot, Dry Summer
The Upper Hunter Shire and most of NSW is experiencing a dreadfully hot, dry summer and I can only imagine the hardship people on the land are experiencing. Murrurundi also has not gone unnoticed with water restrictions in place. Council is working towards the water pipeline completion in 2020 and providing a more secure water supply in the meantime. Councils aim is to ensure the villages on route, on the New England Highway have access to water from the pipeline in the future. The new Litree Micro Filtration Water Treatment Plant at Murrurundi will be officially opened later this month by Mayor Wayne Bedggood and the owner of the Litree company.
Drought Management
There will be a free Field Day 9am to 1.30pm, Thursday 22 February 2018 at “Thornthwaite” Upper Dartbrook Road, Scone for landholders managing property and livestock in the current deteriorating conditions. The workshop is funded through the National Landcare Program and will focus on drought management advice and support options as well as providing an opportunity for producers to network and engage with key industry representatives. Bookings to Local Land Services on 6540 2400.
