The 14-year-old Scone Grammar School student brought in 2017 being sashed Champion Boy Rider at Canberra Royal Show in February for the fifth consecutive year.

Backing up this success, Kelly was crowned Champion Senior Boy Rider at this month’s Sydney Royal Easter Show, being awarded the coveted Philip Charley Perpetual Trophy.

Tyler picked up the title aboard borrowed horse Delegate and his mother Michelle Kelly says it’s his second Sydney Royal top honour - having won the Junior Boy Rider title in 2015.

“We are very proud of the achievement and Tyler is definitely happy with the result which has required a lot of dedication,” Mrs Kelly said. 

“Tyler's own horse, Chippenham Zulu, has also had a fabulous season being the winner of the Open Heavyweight Galloway Hack 142-15hh at the recent Sydney Royal. 

“This followed on from him being sashed Champion Child's Galloway at the Pacific Coast Hack Championships, Equestrian Australia (EA) Horse of the year, and the EA Southern Cross Spectacular all over the past two months.”

As recognition for Tyler’s great success in equestrian events during the past year, he was presented with a sporting award of excellence at the 2018 Scone District Australia Day Awards Ceremony in January. 

Although Tyler and his show horse, Chippenham Zulu, are currently enjoying a rest from events, they have both been selected to represent NSW at the prestigious EA National titles to be held at Werribee, Victoria in December.
