The filly, ridden by Jay Ford, threaded her way through the field to race away and win by two and a half lengths from the Bjorn Baker trained Brazen Gem.
"Mick Malone bought her for $20,000 at the Scone sale for all the staff on the farm at Kitchwin Hills," Cavanough said.
"He wanted a horse they could all share in to run in the Scone two-year-old.
"She is a nice sensible filly and well-furnished but you can never tell what you have until you put them in a race.
"You don't make plans on race day, so I will wait then decide what the next step will be towards Scone."
Ford settled Longbottom ($21) on the fence behind the leading division then got through a gap in the straight to race away and win easily.
