The 2561 hectare Meads Creek West fire is burning out of control in a north-easterly direction towards Merriwa with numerous properties under threat.
The NSW Rural Fire Service has advised those in the area, including surrounding areas Leeds Road, Tunbridge Road, Possum Springs Road, Flight Springs Road and Leitch Road, to leave now if you are not prepared.
They are imploring people to not put themselves in the path of the fire, wear protective clothing and footwear and cover all exposed skin.
If the fire impacts, seek shelter in a solid structure to protect yourself from the heat of the fire and if your life is at risk, call Triple Zero (000).
Crews are also currently fighting a number of bush fires in the Upper Hunter LGA at Moonan, Stewart's Brook and Glenrock which have been burning for numerous days.
To stay up to date on bush fires, check the NSW RFS website or call the NSW RFS Bush Fire Information Line on 1800 679 737.
