One of those is the Scone Neighbourhood Resource Centre (SNRC) whose volunteers have been busy distributing 'Hello' flyers to local letterboxes over the past few days.
You may have already received one and filled out the details including your name, phone number and ways you can help your neighbour, then dropped the flyer in your neighbour's letterbox.
If you haven't, it's an easy and practical way to support the most vulnerable in our community during self-isolation and to check in to see if they're okay.
SNRC manager Lee Watts said simple things like picking up some groceries for the elderly in your neighbourhood could make a world of difference.
"Many older people and people who are vulnerable are self-isolating to protect themselves," she said.
"If we can help them by picking up some groceries for them, medications or a phone call each day for a few minutes to see how they are going, that can make all the difference.
"And it's not just our older and vulnerable people, there will be people of all ages and families who will need to self-isolate and just knowing that their neighbour is happy to help, puts everyone's mind a little bit more at ease during these uncertain times."
The Neighbourhood Centre volunteers will also be working hard to distribute grocery packs over the coming weeks following a generous donation of $25,000 from Scone RSL Club.
Scone RSL Club Manager Michael Hollingsworth said the money will go towards basic food packs from Scone Woolworths to be delivered to the elderly residents of Scone.
"Lee Watts of the Scone Neighborhood Resource Centre with the amazing assistance of staff from the Upper Hunter Shire Council will coordinate the delivery of these packs," he said.
If you know someone you think may need a pack, or you are someone that needs support, contact Lee Watts at the Neighbourhood Centre on (02) 6545 2562.
Or, call and register to become a volunteer and help distribute flyers throughout your neighbourhood.
You can also help by spreading the message so the most vulnerable in the community aren't alone.
