A record field for round 1 on the new course was set with 59 members playing. There were also 3 ladies and a visitor to enhance the daily field number.
The 18 Hole Stroke was also the Scone RSL Group Monthly Mug. The morning conditions were ideal for play but the afternoon deteriorated with strong and gusty winds developing.
Matt O'Donnell had the round of the day with a 1 under par 71 which included four birdies and an eagle! His 67 nett won Matt the Monthly Mug prize and set up a narrow lead in the championships.
The A Grade winner, Lyn Banks, also had a fine round of 3 over par to record 67 nett.
B Grade was won by Paul McLoughlin who had 68 nett and another 67 nett was required to win C Grade by Red Palmer.

After round 1 in the Championships Scratch events the leaders were: Matt O'Donnell 71, 2 shots ahead of his brother Will O'Donnell 73, with Wes Boyd a further shot back, then Justin Smart and Jake Teague on 76.
In B Grade Clayton Rogers had a 2 shot lead shooting 81, with Scott Shann 83, Paul McLoughlin 86 and John Roe 87 next best.
In C Grade Michael Robinson 89, was also 2 shots ahead of Peter Teague 91, with Col Solway 94 and George Campbell 96 making up the top four.
In the Senior event David O'Donnell had a good round of 79 to have a five shot lead over Mick Alsleben 84, with Charlie Wintle and Ross Banks a further shot back on 85.

Round 2 was held on Sunday October 18 with 48 members and 1 visitor playing in cooler, breezy conditions with some light showers in the afternoon. The 18 Hole Stroke event was sponsored by Jim Elder.
The A Grade winner was Matt Hobbs 69 nett, and Clayton Rogers had the same score to win B Grade and Kevin Thompson had 70 nett to win C Grade.

In the Championships Will O'Donnell had the best round of the day of par 72 which included 3 birdies. He leads Matt O'Donnell who had 75 by 1 shot with Wes Boyd a further 5 shots behind. In B Grade Clayton Rogers had another 81 to open up an 11 shot lead over Tony O'Neill with Scott Shann a further 2 behind.
In C Grade Michael Robinson followed his opening round 89 with 90 to lead Col Solway by 12 shots, with Peter Teague a further 2 shots behind. In the seniors David O'Donnell maintained his 5 shot lead over Mick Alsleben when they both had 84 whilst Ross Banks is next one shot further back.

The ladies Hunter River District Championship and playoff day was held on Monday October 19 at Cypress Lakes Golf Course. Six players from Scone played with Lyn Banks in the Division 1 Champions and Golf NSW Medal, Annie Woods Division 2 Champions, District Medal and Golf NSW Medal, Dordie Bragg Division 1 District Medal, Noreen Marshall Division 3 Champions and all these players plus Julie Leckie and Judy Carmody contesting the District Championship. On this challenging course Lyn Banks was equal second in the scratch having 87 and Julie Leckie had the best nett score out of the Scone players with 75. Annie Woods was second in the Division 2 District Medal and GNSW Medal with 81 nett, and Noreen Marshall was second in the Division 3 champions section.
On Thursday October 15 the ladies had a very pleasant day for golf. The 18 Hole Stableford was sponsored by Amanda Paradice and the winner was Ann Cameron who had 36 points. She won on a countback from Lexie Polin who received the runners up prize.
Ball winners were Ann Cameron, Lexie Polin 36, Judy Carmody 35, Kerry McLennan and Kathy Robinson 34 points on a countback from Lyn Banks. The Thoroughbred 2 out of 3 event was finalised with Lyn Banks and Julie Leckie being tied on 68 points with the annual prize to be shared.
In the Wednesday Open Medley Stableford sponsored by Scone RSL Group on October 14 there was a good field of 20 players. Brendan King was the winner with a fine 45 points and in second place was Cameron French on 40 points. Balls went to these players plus Dan Malone, Andrew Parry-Okeden 36, Luke Stevens 35, Ross Banks, John Johnson, Jake Teague, Glen Tarrant 34 and David O'Brien 33 points on a countback from Jonno Keep.
Next weekend on Saturday October 24 the third round of the men's Club Championships will be played for the Herb Phelps Memorial Day sponsored by Bill Pumpa. Sunday October 25 will have the final round sponsored by The Phelps Family.
On Wednesday October 21 the regular Open Stableford is available whilst on Thursday October 22 the ladies will play an 18 Hole Stableford sponsored by The Thoroughbred.
